The 2010 Marina Conference, sponsored by Walcon and organised by the British Marine Federation (BMF), TYHA and the UK CMM Group is taking place 12-13 May in its new Brighton location.

This year, the conference will take on a new format, incorporating an extended second day and featuring a field trip to the UK’s largest marina, Brighton Marina. Providing an invaluable chance to interact with other members of the industry, the conference has developed into an important date in the Marina Manager’s calendar.

Developed by Certified Marina Managers (CMMs) for marina managers and service providers, the conference is the industry’s opportunity to share knowledge and opportunities. In order to achieve CMM status, marina managers need at least five years managerial experience in the marine industry, be a graduate of the Advanced Marina Managers School, be an active member of a trade association and manage a facility of a minimum of 100 berths.

Key note speakers, Ken Norman and Tim Lyon will take to the floor to present ‘The Seven Secrets of Successful Negotiating’, a seminar which promises to ensure delegates leave any given ‘negotiable’ situation with a win:win scenario. Other conference topics are as follows:

Water Framework Directive and Maintenance Dredging
Liability Claims
Health and Safety
Innovative marina practices
Boatyard and Marina operations review of practices
Developing new marinas

Interactive sessions:
State of the industry
Working groups
Networking lunches
Field trip to Brighton Marina

The 2009 event attracted 128 delegates from the UK, Portugal, Spain and the USA. Conference delegate, Mike Townshend CMM, Dean & Redyhoff said: “What a great conference! We came away brim full of new ideas and enthusiasm to shake up our business, and what a great opportunity to meet a broad range of interesting and entertaining colleagues.”
