Video: A Focus on BMF Training and the Marina
Sector
The BMF
training service is passionate about the development and
progression of the UK marine industry. From career prospects to
recruitment to training grants and short courses, we are here to
assist and advise. By promoting an environment for training
and recruitment, we hope to encourage UK marine based companies to
invest in training for the benefit of the industry. We manage a
number of
short courses as well as develop national and regional
qualifications from entry to advanced level.
A particular focus for the BMF Training team
is its
portfolio of marina training. The courses are designed to
promote best practice in the marina sector, with delegates doing a
number of options including: Marina Operative Course, Intermediate
Marina Managers Course, Advanced Marina Managers School, the Annual
Marina Conference and the Certified Marina Manager
qualification.
The courses are complemented with the annual Marina Conference
which sees networking and sharing of best practice. This year’s
conference in Southampton from 25-26 May saw 135 delegates from
eight countries enjoy a packed two days of presentations, guest
speakers.

All of the marina managers information is
available on the Global Marina Institute (GMI) website, a
partnership between the BMF and Marina Industries Association of
Australia (MIAA). The site http://www.globalmarinainstitute.net/
provides details of GMI certifications and training courses
together with details of Certified Marina Managers globally.
Also benefitting the marina sector is the
re-designed Gold Anchor Award Scheme, which aims to highlight
quality assured berthing. Based on the TYHA Code of Practice
for the design construction and operation of marinas, the scheme
awards marinas a rating from one to five gold anchors.
