Scottish Symposium
Published on 27/9/2012
A Recreational Boating and Marine Tourism Symposium will be held at the Scottish Parliament in the third week of November, chaired by Stuart McMillan MSP and co-arranged by BMF Scotland, Scottish Boating Alliance and RYA Scotland.
The aim of the symposium will be to identify areas of growth, the routes forward and to set a strategy for the development and expansion of the Scottish leisure marine and recreational boating sector. The focus will be on the tourism potential, which almost every Scottish marine business has a stake in.
The Scottish government has identified our leisure marine tourism sector as a target for growth, and the symposium will be a major step towards a unified strategy for our industry.
The symposium will take the form of presentations to stimulate thought, followed by workshops to thrash out new ideas, and consolidate existing ones.
The Scottish industry is largely weathering the current financial climate quite well, so it is a good moment to plan for the future, something that is best done when things are quiet, and changes can be made.
