British Marine Electronics Association Conference 2012 Set to be Bigger than Ever

This year’s British Marine Electronics Association Conference will take place on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the Novotel Hotel, Southampton. This successful annual event provides an opportunity for all sectors of the marine industry to get together not only to discuss topics of mutual interest but also to create and build beneficial business relationships.

Introduced by Derek Gilbert, BMEA Chairman, the Conference will include a number of presentations by distinguished speakers. Among the subjects that will be covered are; “Satellite Communications at Sea” by Ed Wildgoose, “BMF and BMEA Working together to serve members in the Marine Electronics Sector” by Howard Pridding, BMF CEO, ”Apprenticeships, Training and Staff Development” by Sarah Dhanda of the BMF, ” NMEA introduces NMEA 2000 on Steroids plus other News” by Steve Spitzer. Other presentations will include “Marine Hybrids, Practical Solutions” by Graeme Hawksley, ”What can Multiplex Power & Monitoring Systems offer Users & Builders” by Daniel Cox, E-Plex Ltd and “Can Lithium Ion Batteries compete with Lead Acid in Marine Applications” by Paul Holland of Energy Solutions Ltd.

Ian Lockyer said:"We are giving our customers the opportunity again to choose the ‘Industry’s Dealer’ and ‘Product of the Year’ by simply voting over a two month period on our website from the beginning of August. The ‘BMEA Newly Certificated Technician of the Year Award’ will be chosen from a shortlist of newly certificated engineers across the industry. The ‘BMEA Lifetime Achievement Award’ will be given to someone who the BMEA committee feels has contributed the most to the marine electronics/electrical industry."

The Conference is open to all in the marine industry. Member companies receive two free places to the Conference but Dinner, including wine, is charged to all members at £35 per head. If required, further delegates for member companies will be charged at £35 each. Non-BMEA members can book at £95 for the day or £130 for Conference and Dinner.
