The Regional Development Agency for the East Midlands is EMDA. It is able to offer support, advice, funding and grants for the region.

Business Link provides business support information, carries out diagnostics of business issues and signposts companies to relevant sources of expertise.


 

To help both companies and employees get the training they need, the Learning and Skills Council (LSC)  launched 'Train to Gain', a  service aimed at helping businesses improve their productivity and competitiveness by ensuring that staff have the right skills to do the best job. East Midlands iNETS

An iNET is a business-led innovation network that provides support to help businesses and individuals in each of the regions key sectors to become more innovative. These sectors being Transport (This is where Marine fits in), Healthcare & Bioscience, Sustainable Construction & Food & Drink.

East Midlands Urban Development Fund

The East Midlands Urban Development Fund (the Fund) is open for business and will support, across the East Midlands region, the development of commercial property focused around innovation, science, technology and growth.  The Fund, which is the first regional Urban Development Fund to have been established in England, has been set up to provide funding to commercial development projects which will support lasting jobs across the region.  It will invest in opportunities across the urban areas of the East Midlands, many of which have stagnated due to the lack of bank finance resulting from the credit crunch and the resulting recession.

Technology Strategy Board

Much of our work is in spreading knowledge, understanding policy, spotting opportunities and bringing people together to solve problems or make new advances. We also invest in and manage a range of delivery mechanisms and programmes to drive technology-enabled innovation.

Improving your resource efficiency

All businesses have the potential to reduce their cost base and increase their profitability by managing their resources more efficiently – for example by improving the way they manage their energy, water, raw materials and waste.

Resource efficiency can save money and make businesses more competitive, as well as demonstrating reduced environmental impact. EMDA is committed to helping businesses improve their resource efficiency and is working with Business Link to deliver improvements across the region.
