London Games 2012 :
Branding and Marketing
The ability to promote
your services during the 2012 London Games has great potential
to grow your business, particularly if you are located near one of
the many venues hosting a major event. However there are extremely
strict rules and laws governing how this is done, with hefty fines
and even imprisonment awaiting those who ignore them. The BMF
has guidance on what is acceptable and what is not.
The following guide provides
information about how to brand your business to take advanatge of
the games, while not breaking the various laws surrdouding its
brand. While it is predominantly focused on tourism businesses the
general guidance is true for any comapny wishing to make the most
of the games.
All Olympic Logos are controlled by
international trademark and copyright. Additional protection is
also afforded by the London Olympic and Paralympic Games Act 2006.
We strongly advise that you read this document if you intend to run
any promotions during the games. While we cannot offer legal
advice, if you have any questions that are not covered by this
document, please send them to olympic@britishmarine.co.uk
Making the Most of the Opportunity
Despite the limitations, world
beating opportunties are on offer during the Olympics that
can promote your business and the wider industry. An enaged
and enthusiastic demographic, coupled with the arrival of an
unprecedented global media presence during the
games provides the industry with the opportunity to put
its best foot forward in front of a worldd audience.
The BMF is using its 'On the Water' campaign to
introduce as many poeple as possible to the pastime of boating and
we will be using the boost created by the Olympics to maximum
effect. Our training team already provide a number of courses to
assist your businesses with their PR and marketing activities,
whether it is in traditional print media, online or on
