Apprenticeships

The apprenticeship for the marine industry is a nationally recognised framework which gives a qualification for those working in boat building, maintenance and repair; marine engineering; electronics and engineering maintenance.

The Apprenticeship Framework consists of:

Apprenticeships tend to be run through a registered training provider or college who can help recruit apprentices, organise training programmes and ensure an apprentice is on track and meeting the certification requirements.

Recognised Apprenticeship Frameworks can attract public funding, but this depends on the age and circumstances of the Apprentice. The funding is designed to cover the cost of the training programme and is not paid directly to the employer.
