Published on: 06 December 2018Are you a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) working as an FD or FC in one of our member companies and would like to contribute to the governance of British Marine?
At a recent Board meeting, the Board approved an Audit and Risk Committee to be set up in order to assist it in the fulfilment of its corporate governance duties in relation to risk management, internal control and financial reporting. This committee will be chaired by the Treasurer of British Marine, (currently Alan Morgan), who will be joined by the President Elect (currently Ian Cooke), British Marine’s Company Secretary and you. You will be vital to the success of this committee by bringing working knowledge of risk management, internal controls and financial reporting from your own company in order to provide insightful and independent reviews of British marine’s current systems, policies and procedures. As such, we are ideally looking for someone from a SME with a turnover above £10m.
If you think that this role might be for you, please contact Andy Harrison, British Marine’s Financial Controller, on 01784 223601 or at email@example.com for further information and/or an informal discussion about the role.
This is an exciting time of change for British Marine and, as such, good governance is even more critical than ever. Please help British Marine manage the risks inherent with this change. Working alongside very knowledgeable professionals, it is also a chance to obtain some greater governance experience for any finance professional looking for additional experience in this area. Please note that this is a pro bono role and the committee will meet three/four times a year.
