In the current COVID-19, double handed sailing makes a lot of sense for social distancing, whilst being able to enjoy a #SummerOnTheWater. One person who has taken to this new discipline is Dee Caffari MBE.
Dee is a well-known offshore sailor and supporter of the Southampton International Boat Show, and has encouraged British Marine’s environmental changes at the Show.
She has recently teamed up with new young British talent, James Harayda on his Sunfast 3300, ‘Gentoo’ with success already, and have their sights set on the Mixed Double Handed Offshore Olympic class planned for Paris 2024.
British Marine members have the opportunity to partner with Dee on her new project with James.
Dee and James told British Marine; “The exciting news we want to share is of our selection by the RYA to represent Team GBR in the Eurosaf Mixed Offshore European Championships at the end of August. This event is quite last minute and while we are delighted on our selection it does incur some significant expenses.
We would welcome anyone who would like to come on this journey with us as we navigate our way to Olympic selection beginning with this first stepping stone of the European Event.
We are now looking for €10 000 to cover this event as a one off. We could use this as a test to see if a more long-term relationship could be developed going forward. It would be lovely to develop a group of partners that support this project and use us as ambassadors sharing our progress along this journey together.”
If you would like to embark on a partnership with James and Dee, then please do not hesitate to get in touch. Please contact James Harayda firstname.lastname@example.org.
