Published on: 13 May 2020One of British Marine's longest serving and most loyal members Alec Blagdon has sadly passed away aged 100.
As member number 10, Alec was one of the most passionate founder members of British Marine, joining over 60 years ago when British Marine was known as the Ship and Boat Builders National Federation.
Serving on the South West committee and often reciting those early days when new applicants had to present to their peers face-to-face to gain membership, Alec was there representing the needs of boaters and the boatyards in the area. Well known and equally well loved Alec and the Blagdon boatyard are an integral part of the fabric of the marine industry in Plymouth. Often referred to as a kind man, Alec was well respected by the industry and his contribution will be dearly missed by all.
