Published on: 17 February 2021UK flagged vessels that are over 500GT and are involved on international voyages fall under the UK ship recycling regulations.
The UK ship recycling regulations are explained within MGN 633 amendment 1. The regulations are split into two parts. The first part covers what a vessel must do (i.e. carry a list or inventory of hazardous material (IHM) on board), and the second part covers the end of life recycling of the vessel, which includes having the vessel recycled at an approved facility. MIN 657 contains a list of the approved facilities where this can occur.
