Release of updated designated standards list for UKCA marking in PPE, machinery and EMC certification

Many businesses currently use European harmonised standards to provide presumption of conformity with relevant EU law. As the UK retained many of the requirements of EU law at the end of the transition period, the essential legal requirements that businesses must meet in the UK did not change. Therefore, all harmonised standards that gave presumption of conformity with EU law became designated standards in the UK on 1 January 2021. 

Designated standards can be used to provide a rebuttable (such as they could be countered by evidence) presumption of conformity to British jurisdictions in the same way that harmonised standards are used to demonstrate compliance with EU law.

The government has updated the lists of designated standards for the following categories of products:
