In response to recommendations included in the Leisure Boating & Watersports – Futures report British Marine contracted Arkenford Market Research to conduct further research to gain a greater understanding of the general public’s attitudes, barriers and motivations for participation and develop segmentation models for boating and watersports to assist with targeting recruitment, retention and marketing strategies. This work considered the retention of existing boaters and the re-motivation of lapsed participants.
The full report findings are made available to British Marine members to inform the development of products (physical hardware or experiential on water) and marketing communications to grow participation levels, and sales. The ultimate goal being to grow participation levels, and for boating and watersports to be perceived as an activity that can engaged with throughout all life stages.
