Exclusive to British Marine members
Whatever maritime services you offer to your customers, a reoccurring problem can be how to manage a customer who has left their possessions in your care but has not settled the bill. It might be that they have not been seen for a while or you suspect they are ignoring your requests for payment. What can you do to break the status quo?
Hopefully there are signed terms and conditions that clarify the position but it is possible that the agreement has not been signed or may be silent on the matter. In those circumstances you will have to turn to the common law position. This guidance document has been drafted by the British Marine member legal helpline, Epoq.
