Black Tie Dinner

The venue for the Black Tie Dinner will be the iconic Cutty Sark. She has travelled across the world, sailed under both the Red Ensign and the Portuguese flag and visited every major port in the world through the course of her working life. In admiration of her beauty and in recognition of her fame, she was preserved for the nation by Captain Wilfred Dowman in 1922. Since then, the old clipper has been berthed in Falmouth and Greenhithe, finally arriving at her current resting place in Greenwich in 1954.

The Black Tie Dinner will include a three-course meal and drinks, as well as a talk from Paralympic champion, Talan Skeels-Piggins.

In March 2003, Talan Skeels-Piggins suffered the motorcycle accident that was to define his life. Left paralysed from the mid-chest down, and told he would spend up to two years in hospital upon admission, Talan defied expectations to be discharged only six and a half months later. Undaunted by his injuries, he set about a series of challenges to prove to himself and the world that being in a wheelchair would not stop him from what he wanted to do. His experiences have led him to give motivation and achievement talks all over Britain and to many different types of audience, from senior management of blue chip companies to primary schools.
