The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) is seeking information from recreational boat owners worldwide on how they deal with fouling on their craft. This is part of a major project to help address the spread of aquatic invasive species.
The survey for owners of all types of sailing boats, motor boats and yachts is being carried out by IMO’s GloFouling Partnerships Project, which aims to protect marine ecosystems from the negative effects of invasive marine species.
It is also important that boatyards and marinas which provide antifoul services respond to the survey.
Survey respondents will be questioned on their location, what kind of anti-fouling paint or system they use, where they moor and winter their boats, preferences for cleaning, challenges, and so on.
The survey’s results will help identify the main challenges and key solutions to antifouling and recreational vessel coating.
