From Scotland to Saudi – Demand grows for British Marine’s globally recognised Marina Management Courses

International interest in British Marine’s IMM and AMM training programmes builds as marina professionals seek to advance their careers

As the marina industry continues to evolve, so too does the demand for skilled, forward-thinking professionals. Responding to this global appetite for high-impact leadership development, British Marine’s Intermediate Marina Manager (IMM) and Advanced Marina Management (AMM) courses are growing in popularity, with dates scheduled across the UK, Europe, and the Middle East through 2025 and in to 2026.

Delivered by The Global Marina Institute (a partnership between British Marine and the Marina Industries Association in Australia, formed to deliver globally recognised marina training and certification), these globally respected programmes offer marina professionals the opportunity to elevate their expertise, build international credentials, and join a global network of leaders shaping the future of the industry.

These courses have become essential milestones for anyone serious about progressing in marina management. We’re seeing interest from all corners of the world – from independent marina operators to global groups – because the IMM and AMM courses provide practical insight that transforms both careers and businesses.

Manj Mahey, Training Manager, British Marine

The IMM course is a four-day residential programme, ideal for marina managers, supervisors and team leaders who have at least one year of experience in a leadership role. Certified by GMI, the course provides fast-track training in critical aspects of marina operations and management, offering a gateway towards globally recognised Certified Marina Manager (CMM), Certified Marina Operator (CMO), and the Certified Marina Professional (CMP) qualifications.

The AMM course, a five-day residential programme, is the next step in the career pathway for those with at least three years’ experience as an on-site marina manager (or five years in a leadership position in a marina-affiliated business). Designed to build on the IMM course, it provides participants with deeper knowledge and practical tools to enhance operations, lead teams, manage large-scale projects, and develop long-term strategic plans and is the next step in the pathway towards Certified Marina Manager (CMM) and Certified Marina Professional (CMP) certification.

Both courses are delivered by industry leaders and Certified Marina Managers, and combine classroom learning, field trips to local marinas, group projects and high-value networking with peers from across the sector.
