British Marine Boat Retailers & Brokers Association (BRBA) and the Association of Brokers and Yacht Agents (ABYA) are pleased to announce that the next Practical Yacht Broker Course will take place on 9-10 March 2026 at the Solent Hotel & Spa, Fareham.
Developed to support those new to yacht and boat brokerage, as well as individuals looking to advance their career in the sector, the Practical Yacht Broker course is widely recognised as the gold standard in yacht brokerage training.
Created through a long-standing partnership between ABYA and BRBA, the course offers delegates an invaluable opportunity to go beyond the basics and gain real-world insight from those working at the sharp end of the industry.
“This course remains an essential stepping stone for anyone serious about establishing themselves in yacht and boat sales. ABYA is proud to work alongside the BRBA to deliver a programme that supports accuracy, integrity and high standards across the brokerage profession."
Karen Wilson CEO at ABYA
The course is delivered by a team of highly experienced industry professionals, and provides the essential practical skills and critical knowledge required to succeed in today’s competitive marine sales environment.
With a strong focus on applied learning, the March 2026 course features refreshed content, updated case studies, and the latest guidance on key legal, financial, and technical topics. Themes covered include:
A live Q&A session with an experienced broker will enable participants to ask questions and gain first-hand insight from a seasoned professional, while the relaxed networking dinner provides a valuable opportunity to connect with fellow delegates and course speakers.
The course was really well balanced, and the delivery from the presenters was excellent. There was a lot of information to cover, but it was presented clearly without overwhelming us. As a recent entrant to boat sales, I completed the course feeling confident and ready to put into practice everything I’ve learned. The speakers encouraged participation, which made the sessions engaging and helped with knowledge sharing. The course has been invaluable in building my confidence to manage the boat buying process professionally, making it a positive experience for both buyers and sellers. I would absolutely recommend this course to anyone entering or developing their brokerage career.
Chris Symonds Delegate on November 2025 course
The role of a yacht broker goes far beyond showing clients boats and closing deals. Brokers must navigate a complex landscape of legal, financial, and technical requirements, whilst managing negotiations and building lasting client relationships. Mistakes can be costly - both financially and reputationally. That’s why the Practical Yacht Broker Course continues to play a vital role in supporting professionalism across our industry. It equips aspiring and developing brokers with the practical knowledge, credibility, and confidence needed to navigate increasingly complex transactions - all delivered by experts who understand the realities of modern brokerage."
Alastair Walton Chair at BRBA
