17 June 2025

British Marine extends its warmest congratulations to four remarkable individuals from the marine sector who have been recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours List 2025 for their outstanding contributions to sailing, young people, and their communities.

  • Mark Todd MBE, CEO of Ocean Youth Trust South and Chair of the Association of Sail Training Organisations, has been awarded an MBE for services to sailing and young people. A passionate advocate for the power of sail training to build confidence, resilience, and life skills in young people, Mark has dedicated over two decades to the sector. From his early days as a Staff Skipper to his leadership roles within ASTO and beyond, his work has transformed countless lives through the adventure and challenge of life at sea.
  • John Paul Wilkinson MBE, Director of Young People, Volunteer and Business Support at the Marine Society and Sea Cadets, is recognised for his services to young people. His role has been central in shaping opportunities for thousands of cadets and volunteers across the UK, enabling them to thrive through structured maritime programmes.
  • Colin Magee MBE, Co-Founder of the Leicestershire and Rutland Youth Sailing Association, receives his honour for services to young people and people with disabilities. His commitment has helped break down barriers and ensure inclusive access to sailing and watersports for all.
  • Richard Donald Titchener MBE, CEO of the Sea-Change Sailing Trust and Captain of the Blue Mermaid, is honoured for services to disadvantaged young people and the community in Essex. Through traditional sail training and community-focused voyages, Richard’s work has given many a new direction and sense of purpose.

These honours are a powerful recognition of the marine industry’s role in changing lives and supporting young people to achieve their full potential. British Marine is proud to celebrate these inspirational individuals and the organisations they represent.

It feels very special to have been awarded an MBE for my work in sail training. I am passionate about the power of sail training to make a lasting positive difference to young people, and I hope to use this award to bring wider recognition to the industry.

Mark Todd MBE
