The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is seeking views on the potential impact of the UK joining the Regional Convention on Pan-Euro Mediterranean Preferential Rules of Origin (PEM) and whether this would help rebuild some of the economic integration lost after Brexit.   

Whilst the PEM is not a customs union it has been designed help grow trade amongst its members  which includes the EU  – the UK marine sector’s largest export market -  by establishing common Rules of Origin and cumulation arrangements.
