Have your say in the British Marine Scotland Skills and Training Survey for the Leisure and Small Commercial Marine Sector
16 September 2025

Your input is essential to help identify training strategies and resources to build the sector for the future

British Marine Scotland has launched a national skills initiative to support the long-term growth of Scotland’s marine sector. As highlighted in this announcement earlier this year, the project aims to better understand the challenges around skills, training, and workforce development across the industry and arrive at a series of recommendations to enhance the economic viability of the sector.

British Marine Scotland is gathering valuable insights into the current and future skills needs within the sector and your input will help identify training strategies to ensure we continue to build the industry for the future.

This survey is just one part of our wider research. Our researcher will also be travelling across Scotland to meet businesses face-to-face in their local areas, to gain a deeper understanding of what it’s really like to work in the sector. If you are interested in taking part in one of these meetings, please contact Margaret McCole via email: margaret.mccole@gmail.com

We would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete our short survey. Your feedback will directly inform how we can best address skills gaps and support businesses across the sector.

Thank you to our funders, Crown Estate Scotland, for supporting this important work.
