Are you missing out on important updates?
30 April 2026

Have you ever found yourself hearing about British Marine events only after they’ve already taken place? If so, read on to find out how to stay in the know.

During recent member support calls, many members have shared that they only tend to hear from British Marine when their annual membership renewal is due - meaning they may be missing out on valuable updates, opportunities, and industry insights throughout the year.

In most cases, this comes down to contact preferences. Many members have selected transactional contact only, rather than consent to all. This is often done with the understandable concern that opting in fully might lead to an influx of unwanted emails from third parties.

However, under strict GDPR regulations, selecting transactional contact only means we are limited to communicating with you about essential matters such as membership renewals, invoices, and financial information.

By choosing consent to all, you enable us to share relevant and valuable updates tailored to your involvement with British Marine and your specific Associations. This includes:

  • Events and networking opportunities
  • Training courses and professional development
  • Public affairs updates
  • Sector awards and recognition opportunities
  • Technical guidance
  • Industry consultations

If you feel you might be missing out, it’s worth checking whether your current contact preferences are right for you.

To review or update your preferences, simply get in touch with your Association Executive, who will be happy to assist and make any changes quickly and easily.
