This month the US Administration issued a new presidential proclamation under Section 232 altering how the it calculates tariffs on steel, aluminium and copper derivative products. The tariffs now apply to the full value of goods, not just metal content. This change is highly relevant for businesses exporting equipment and components to the US that contains these materials, including for UK exporters which continue to have some preferential treatment due to the UK US deal signed last May.
