This week the Treasury laid an important and welcome amendment to its Finance Bill which will be considered by a Committee of the Whole House next week. It follows a long campaign by British Marine and other trade associations, led by Family Businesses UK and in conjunction with the National Farmers Union, to persuade the Government to rethink its damming plans to slash Business Property Relief (BPR) and Agricultural Property Relief (APR) from Inheritance Tax on estates valued above £1m from April 2026.
