Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding’s first ever Duchy 35 has crossed the Atlantic to join new owners in Rhode Island.
Duchy 35 ‘Frisia’ exemplifies this highly versatile and ever-popular model in the company’s acclaimed Duchy Motor Launches brand, and has been exquisitely customised to include a varnished Iroko transom and double doors, a twin cabin layout, and a traditional navy hull with red and white cove line.
The vessel was delivered in partnership with Cockwells’ exclusive North American dealers, Wellington Yacht Partners, also based in Rhode Island, which is helmed by respected yacht broker Ted Hood, whose late father was an internationally renowned yacht designer and builder.
Duchy 35 ‘Frisia’ also made her stateside debut at the Connecticut Spring Boat Show at Safe Harbour Essex Island, alongside Duchy 27 #37, where these fine examples were much admired for their modern usability, pleasing proportions and superb craftsmanship.
The Duchy 35 is a classically crafted motor launch that offers the perfect environment in which to enjoy an on-the-water lifestyle in timeless, understated elegance.
A former winner of the Wheelhouse and Cockpit Cruisers category of Motor Boat & Yachting magazine’s Motor Boat Awards, this vessel offers a spacious cockpit; expansive, airy saloon and plenty of space for socialising and relaxing, whatever the weather.
With the single cabin option, she becomes a luxury day boat or weekender for two. A twin cabin layout transforms her into a comfortable family cruiser with a well-equipped galley located in the spacious saloon and two double berths below.
The Duchy 27, the first of which was delivered to the United States in 2025, is a versatile weekender for two or picnic boat for six guests that delivers plenty of room for relaxing and entertaining, punchy performance and comprehensive creature comforts.
It was fantastic to see how well the first Duchy 35 was received by American boat lovers as they complimented her exceptional build quality and classic styling. If this reaction is anything to go by, I am sure we will be seeing a lot more Duchys in the United States in the future.
