Hamble sailing school launches custom-built digital navigation course in partnership with Dorset marine tech firm
15 June 2026

Sailing Course Online, the Hamble Point Marina-based training provider that teaches over 50,000 students across 115 countries, has developed bespoke course modules with Dorset-founded Savvy Navvy, giving students hands-on experience with one of the navigation apps they’re most likely to use on the water.

Sailing Course Online, based at Hamble Point Marina, has launched a significantly updated RYA Day Skipper theory course featuring custom-built modules and exercises developed with the school’s instructor team. The bespoke content gives students hands-on experience with the digital tools they’ll use on the water, in line with the Royal Yachting Association’s (RYA) new ‘Digital First’ framework.

The custom modules have been built around Savvy Navvy, the Dorset-founded marine technology company – a boating navigation app, often referred to as ‘Google maps for boats’, with over three million downloads worldwide. The collaboration brings together two South Coast marine businesses, both reaching global audiences from their bases on the south coast of England.

The Solent has always been at the heart of British sailing, and the South Coast more broadly has a long history of marine innovation. It’s exciting to be working with another South Coast marine business to deliver this update, with course modules built specifically for our students. We’re proud to be a Hampshire business reaching students all over the world, and it’s important to us to teach sailing the way it’s actually done on the water today.

Sailing Course Online has built its reputation locally and internationally. The school holds Feefo Platinum status, has students in 115 countries, and has been trusted to deliver training to RYA and Maritime & Coastguard Agency personnel. Students enrolling on the updated Day Skipper theory course receive a free seven-day Savvy Navvy trial and an exclusive 20 percent discount on subscription, giving them hands-on experience with a professional navigation tool as part of their studies.
