Ocealis, a new maritime operations and compliance platform designed specifically for small commercial craft operators, will officially launch at Seawork 2026.
Developed for sub-24m commercial marine operations, the platform brings vessel and crew management, maintenance planning and compliance documentation into one connected system - all designed around the realities of day-to-day operations on the water.
Built by maritime safety specialist John Peacock and engineer Ben Lake, Ocealis has been developed to help operators reduce administration, improve visibility across their fleet and simplify compliance processes without adding unnecessary complexity for crews.
The platform works both online and offline, allowing operators and crews to continue carrying out checks, reporting defects and accessing operational information even when connectivity is limited. Rather than relying on multiple spreadsheets, paper systems and disconnected software, Ocealis gives operators one central platform for vessel records, maintenance schedules, crew management and compliance documentation.
Operators can automate servicing and inspection reminders, securely store key documentation and maintain clearer control across vessels and operational activity, with information syncing automatically once internet connectivity is restored.
“Ocealis is built around how people actually work on the water,” said Ben Lake, Co-Founder of Ocealis. “Operators should not have to rely on several different systems to stay on top of compliance. We have focused on keeping everything in one place, making it easy to use and ensuring it still works when connectivity is limited.”
Designed for commercial marine environments, Ocealis supports operators managing everything from single workboats to larger multi-vessel fleets with demanding maintenance schedules and evolving compliance requirements.
By connecting vessel checks, maintenance planning and compliance in one place, the system is intended to help operators take a more proactive approach to fleet management, safety and operational reliability.
“Too often, systems in this space add more admin rather than removing it,” said John Peacock, Co-Founder of Ocealis. “We have focused on making operations simpler and more reliable, particularly for crews working in environments where time and network access are limited.”
Ocealis is being developed with support from Innovate UK and continues to evolve alongside feedback from commercial operators already using the system across different sectors of the maritime industry.
Early users have highlighted the practical value of the platform as it develops from its Boat Checks origins into the wider Ocealis system.
Mat Randall, Owner and Managing Director of Rebel Marine (Isle of Wight) LLP, a development partner of Ocealis, said: “Ocealis has rapidly become a vital resource for managing and organising our fleet of vessels, as well as our vehicles and equipment on land. Scheduling regular inspections and maintenance helps us keep our equipment safe and dependable, allowing us to offer better service to our customers. Instead of using multiple applications as we did before, the document management feature conveniently centralises everything we need. Thanks to the designers' hands-on approach, the system feels almost custom-built for our requirements. We are excited about upcoming improvements as Ocealis is introduced in 2026.”
Shaun Mansbridge, Compliance Manager of Williams Shipping Marine Ltd, a customer of Ocealis, commented: “After a thorough trial period of Ocealis we are delighted to subscribe to the service. We are extremely happy with the product and know that it will make a big difference in the way we manage our fleet. The software is easy to navigate and the vessel Masters' have been able to adopt it without issue. The ability to communicate seamlessly between the office and the vessels, across all technical and documentation levels, is already making a huge difference. We look forward to utilising all the features within Ocealis, including a SMS system, in the coming months.”
Visitors to Seawork 2026 will be able to see live demonstrations of Ocealis on Stand WB5 and speak directly with the team about implementation, operational integration and future development plans.
Ocealis will also host a launch session in the Seawork Event Space on Tuesday 9th June from 13:30 to 14:30 delivering an early view of the product roadmap..
