Barrus has recently appointed Lee Allen as Commercial Manager for its Marine Division, strengthening the company’s strategic leadership across its Marine Leisure, Marine Diesel and Equipment portfolios.
Lee joined Barrus in late 2023 as an Area Sales Manager and now steps into a broader commercial role, bringing together experience in boat production, operations and sales to support the company’s long-term growth across the marine sector.
Before coming to Barrus, he spent nearly a decade with British Boat Builder as Production Manager, gaining hands-on experience across every stage of the manufacturing process; from concept development through to final assembly. This background has given him a detailed understanding of the technical, operational and commercial factors that influence success within the marine industry.
In this new role, Lee will focus on strengthening Barrus’ commercial strategy across its marine portfolios, supporting product positioning, pricing and long-term competitiveness. The position also includes developing the company’s relationships with leading marine manufacturers including Mercury Marine, MerCruiser and Yanmar.
Moving into the position of Commercial Manager is a natural progression for me within the Marine Division. It brings together my background in production, operations and sales, while allowing me to take a broader view of how Barrus positions its products and partnerships within a competitive and evolving market. The marine landscape is moving towards increasingly connected and integrated systems. With the digital capabilities offered by Mercury Marine and MerCruiser, alongside the proven reliability of Yanmar, Barrus is well placed to position itself as a provider of complete marine system solutions rather than simply individual components.

With the sector entering a period of significant evolution as technology, sustainability and customer expectations continue to advance, increasing connectivity, integrated onboard systems and emerging propulsion technologies are reshaping the market. In addition, a more digitally engaged generation of boat owners is influencing how products are developed, supported and marketed.
Over the next 12 months, Lee’s priorities will focus on reinforcing commercial performance across Barrus’ marine portfolios, supporting sales teams with enhanced product knowledge and tools plus increasing the company’s visibility through industry engagement, events and digital channels.
Barrus remains committed to combining technical expertise with commercial insight to support boat builders, dealers and marine professionals across the sector. Lee’s appointment reflects just one example of the depth of knowledge within the whole organisation, reinforcing its long-standing role as a trusted partner to the marine industry.
