France continues to play a key role in the European marine sector, particularly due to sustained refit activity in the Mediterranean and continued production strength among Atlantic boatbuilders. Patrice’s appointment strengthens local engagement with builders, installers and distribution partners across the region.
In the Q&A introducing Patrice, learn about his background in the marine sector and his priorities in developing Bluefin LED’s presence in France.
I was born and raised in Nice, so the sea has always been part of my life. Some of my earliest memories are fishing with my grandfather on our family’s pointu in Villefranche-sur-Mer and spending time by the water with my grandmother. That connection to the Mediterranean sparked a lifelong passion for the marine world.
Although I began my career in finance, a chance meeting with a Couach dealer made me realise I wanted to move into the yachting industry. I moved to the UK to improve my English and worked at the Royal Motor Yacht Club in Poole, which confirmed I’d found the right path.
I started in yacht brokerage with Regal and Sunseeker before founding 2P Marine, a berth brokerage business that supports yacht owners on the French Riviera. I later led UK operations for Opacmare, where we increased profits by 30% in my first year through stronger partnerships with major boatbuilders.
Over the years, I’ve also worked in yacht insurance, co-founded a healthcare business, and led digital transformation projects within marine business sales. Most recently, I founded a digital marketing agency before joining Bluefin LED, where I now focus on expanding the brand’s presence in the French market.
My role at Bluefin LED focuses on business development in the French market. I work closely with boatbuilders to strengthen our brand presence and actively expand our network of approved installers, ensuring that our innovative LED solutions reach more customers across the region.
The French marine market is uniquely positioned, with two distinct coasts (the Mediterranean and the Atlantic), each offering distinct dynamics and growth opportunities. The refit segment is experiencing a significant boom, particularly in the Mediterranean. At the same time, many Atlantic-based French boatbuilders continue to invest and produce actively, largely driven by strong export demand. This duality makes the French market exceptionally versatile.
For a brand, two elements are inseparable: its people and its products. What stood out most about Bluefin LED at the previous METS was witnessing the team's devotion and passion firsthand. Their dedication is evident not only in their commitment to the company but also in the care and innovation behind their products. With a range of original and patented innovations, Bluefin LED creates solutions that stand apart. Beyond that, the team’s close-knit collaboration and shared goal of driving the company’s success make the brand not only impressive but genuinely inspiring.
We are looking for partnerships that go beyond traditional distribution. We are seeking approved installers with a deep understanding of their local market who can both sell and professionally install our products. Ideally, these partners will engage with a wide range of clients, from boat dealers to individual owners. Our experience in France has shown that this type of partnership creates the strongest and most sustainable growth for both our business and our partners.
Dealing predominantly with boatbuilders, I’m observing a clear trend toward smart lighting control technology, with particular interest in our IYS systems and new Pro Link Series lights.
Customers or boatbuilders in France can reach me by email, by phone, or via LinkedIn. I regularly attend major boat shows in France and key European events such as METS. I am also frequently on-site in French ports and marinas, building direct relationships with industry professionals.
I relish time swimming in the sea, I have been doing it since I was a boy and can’t imagine a summer without a swim. I also go fishing with my son whenever we can, either from the rocks or, when possible, from our family Pointu, a small wooden boat typical of the French Riviera.
