During the visit His Royal Highness had a tour of our facilities and spoke to staff members before taking the controls to drive our new vessel trolley and unveiling a plaque to mark the completion of the works.
It was a pleasure to be joined today by HRH The Duke of Gloucester to mark this occasion. After 38 years working within the business, it’s great to see this Upgrade Project completed and the business taking its next step forward with both new and improved facilities and greater sustainability.

We were also joined by members of the local marine community, suppliers who worked on aspects of the upgrade work with us and a selection of customers all of whom were able to view the facilities and enjoy the celebration with us.
The project was part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and administered by the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme and has enabled us to upgrade our engineering, carpentry and welding workshops creating larger dedicated work spaces with new machinery to provide modern facilities and includes setting up a new fibreglass workshop for laying up boards and a brand new aluminium welding facility.
The grant also enabled us to purchase new electric machinery, most notably a mobile vessel trolley for moving vessels up to 100 tonnes around the yard and to purchase a new hydraulic controlled winch for our slipway, in addition and to improve our sustainability we have also installed solar panels and filtration tanks for our wash down water.
We would like to extend our gratitude to HRH The Duke of Gloucester for the visit today and Cornwall Council for giving us this opportunity.
