Batt-Rack draws strong interest from ATFs and recyclers at ESS, CARS and MRE 2026
29 September 2026

Wickens Engineering launched Batt-Rack: Controlled Battery Storage at CARS and MRE 2026, as part of ESS Expo at the NEC Birmingham on 16-17 September.

The stand drew an impressive stream of enquiries from Authorised Treatment Facilities, dismantlers, metal recyclers and yard managers, keen to see how Batt-Rack works to protect their own sites.

Batt-Rack has been engineered to combine capacity and thermal runaway control in a single enclosure, giving operators a safer, more compact way to hold lithium-ion batteries rather than relying on shipping containers and yard space. Each unit can include an integrated sprinkler system, a fire-rated roller shutter door and a canopy roof with a ventilated air gap, with optional thermal and gas detection available to flag a failing cell early. Visitors to the Wickens stand were keen to talk through how their own yards currently store EV batteries, other battery-powered equipment and waste. Batt-Rack is the purpose engineered system which solves the battery storage crisis that so many operators are facing.

The amount of interest that Batt-Rack generated at ESS showed us first-hand how desperate the industry is for a battery storage solution and confirmed why we built Batt-Rack the way we did. The conversations we had at the show will shape how we roll out over the coming months.
