When the team behind Tack and Jibe visited the Southampton International Boat Show two years ago, the business existed largely as an idea.
There was no established marketplace, no growing broker network and certainly no stand at the show, but it was that first visit to the Southampton International Boat Show which was the catalyst for the launch of Tack and Jibe.
By January 2025, that idea had become a reality with the launch of the first version of Tack and Jibe.
At SIBS later that year, the team returned as visitors, spending three days meeting businesses, speaking with brokers and continuing to develop its understanding of where Tack and Jibe could fit within the marine industry.
This year will look rather different.
For all ten days of Southampton International Boat Show 2026, Tack and Jibe will be exhibiting on Stand P60, alongside broker client N-Fun, part of SWUK Marine.
For the team, the move from walking the show with an idea to exhibiting alongside one of its own customers represents an important milestone in what has been a fast-moving first 19 months.
Tack and Jibe began with a relatively straightforward ambition: build a better, more accessible marketplace for buying and selling boats.
That ambition has grown considerably.
Today, the platform brings together private sellers and professional yacht brokers, with private boat listings remaining completely free, while brokers have access to an expanding suite of technology designed to reduce administration and make managing and marketing their inventory easier.
AI-powered natural language boat search, intelligent listing tools, automated website scraping, broker analytics and data integrations have all become part of the platform as Tack and Jibe has evolved beyond its original marketplace proposition.
The company's longer-term ambition is broader still: to build a connected digital ecosystem bringing together the different businesses, services and technology involved throughout boat ownership.
There is something quite surreal about looking back at where we were two years ago. We came to Southampton with an idea and spent most of the show talking to people, learning about the industry and trying to understand whether what we wanted to build had a place in it. Last year we came back for three days as visitors with Tack and Jibe actually live. This year we'll be there for all ten days as exhibitors, sharing a stand with one of the brokers using our platform. For us, that's a pretty good representation of how much has changed in a relatively short period of time.

As Tack and Jibe moves into its next phase, the company is also strengthening the business behind the technology.
Toni Kemble has joined Tack and Jibe as a strategic partner and advisor, working alongside the existing team as it prepares for continued growth.
Toni brings more than 20 years of business experience, with a background in strategy, transformation and helping organisations prepare for growth.
Her work with Tack and Jibe will include reviewing and strengthening business operations, supporting investment readiness and helping shape the company's strategy for expansion into European and international markets.
Tack and Jibe is at a particularly interesting point in its journey. A great deal has been achieved in a short period of time, but there is also a much larger opportunity ahead. My focus is on helping make sure the business behind the technology is ready for that next stage, strengthening the foundations for sustainable growth, preparing for future investment and supporting the team's ambitions beyond the UK. I'm delighted to be joining at a point where there is still so much of the Tack and Jibe story left to write.

Despite the progress of the past 19 months, Tack and Jibe says its focus remains firmly on what comes next.
Development continues across its broker technology and wider marine ecosystem, alongside new partnerships and relationships throughout the industry.
European and international expansion forms part of the longer-term strategy, as does preparing the business for potential external investment to accelerate its growth.
But before that comes Southampton.
We're proud of what we've achieved, but we don't see Southampton as an arrival point. If anything, it feels like the end of the first chapter. We're still a small team, we're still learning and we're still building. But we now have brokers using the platform, partnerships across the industry, technology that is solving genuine problems and a much clearer understanding of where we want Tack and Jibe to go. Two years ago we walked around Southampton talking about an idea. This year people can come and find us on P60 and see what that idea has become. I'm very excited to see where we're standing two years from now.
