Job Description

About Sunseeker International

Sunseeker was founded on a bold vision: to create a new kind of yacht and redefine what was possible on the water. From our earliest designs in 1967, we’ve pushed boundaries and reshaped the motor yacht industry through innovation, craftsmanship and relentless ambition.

At the heart of every Sunseeker lies a legacy of expert hands and meticulous attention to detail, skills refined and passed down through generations. These are the qualities that set our yachts apart - and the qualities that continue to drive our craft today.

In a world increasingly defined by automation, we remain committed to building hand‑crafted, hand‑finished boats. With over 1,800 talented team members across our busy shipyards - from long‑serving specialists to more than 180 apprentices - our Sunseeker workforce reflects the strength, diversity and pride of our local community. It’s this blend of heritage, skill and passion that makes our shipyards unlike any other place in the world.

Who We Are Seeking

We are looking for a detail-oriented and innovative Current & Custom Designer to support the delivery of bespoke and customer-specific yacht designs. This role is key to meeting the growing demand for personalisation, ensuring each project is translated into practical, high-quality solutions ready for production.

You’ll be confident working from concept through to completion, embracing “Design for Manufacture” principles and collaborating closely with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple projects while maintaining Sunseeker’s exceptional design standards.

A Day in the Life

In this role, you’ll work on a variety of customer special projects, developing concepts into fully realised designs using Siemens NX. Your day may involve modelling components, producing detailed drawings, and building comprehensive design packs that enable production teams to bring each yacht to life.

You’ll collaborate regularly with Sales, Production, and Planning teams, ensuring designs are feasible, accurate, and delivered on time. Alongside this, you’ll support problem-solving, implement design updates, and manage multiple priorities, ensuring every project progresses smoothly from brief to build.

Example Responsibilities Include

  • Developing customer special design concepts through to fully resolved production design packs
  • Producing detailed 3D models and 2D production drawings using Siemens NX and AutoCAD
  • Generating build packs for production teams, including cabin drawings
  • Supporting production, suppliers, and contractors with problem-solving and cost reduction initiatives
  • Implementing and managing design changes via DCR/ECR/QIP processes
  • Ensuring all design data and documentation is accurately uploaded to SAP
  • Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BoMs), drawing lists, and technical specifications
  • Collaborating with Sales/CVF teams to interpret and deliver on customer briefs
  • Creating part numbers and ensuring correct integration into SAP systems
  • Working within Design Office protocols and contributing to continuous improvement
  • Managing multiple projects from concept through to production issue
  • Supporting other design disciplines and production engineering during downtime

To Be Considered for This Role You Should Have

  • A minimum 2:2 B.Eng (Hons) in Marine Engineering or an equivalent marine-related qualification, or relevant industry experience
  • Proven experience producing production-ready drawings and design packs
  • Strong proficiency in Siemens NX (essential) and AutoCAD 2D
  • Experience working with SAP, Teamcenter, and BoM management processes
  • A strong understanding of Design for Manufacture principles
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to tight deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information
  • Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams including production, planning, and suppliers
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to design challenges
  • A commitment to continuous personal and professional development in marine design
