Senior Marine Electronics Project Engineer

Join Osprey Technical

At Osprey, we design, deliver and support integrated marine electronics systems for some of the world's most sophisticated yachts. We are known for solving complex technical challenges, delivering exceptional client experiences and investing heavily in the development of our people. Our engineers work on varied and demanding projects, collaborate with leading manufacturers and industry experts, and build skills that are highly respected throughout the marine sector.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Marine Electronics Project Engineer to join our growing team. This is a senior technical role for someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects, solving challenging engineering problems and working closely with colleagues to deliver outstanding results.

Importantly, this is not a people-management position. You will work alongside and support more junior engineers, but formal team leadership, performance management and resource planning sit with the Engineering Manager.

The Role

As a Senior Marine Electronics Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical delivery of complex marine electronics projects from concept and design through installation, commissioning and ongoing support.

You will act as the technical lead on assigned projects, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard, documentation is accurate, and clients receive an exceptional experience.

You will also play a key role in mentoring less experienced engineers, sharing knowledge and helping maintain the collaborative culture that underpins Osprey's success.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

·        Lead the technical delivery of assigned marine electronics projects.

·        Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and in line with agreed specifications.

·        Identify technical risks and resolve issues before they impact delivery.

·        Manage project documentation, milestones and engineering records.

·        Support commissioning, testing and fault-finding activities both remotely and on-site.

Design & Documentation

·        Produce professional technical drawing packs and engineering documentation.

·        Develop and maintain accurate schematics, layouts and system documentation.

·        Ensure all documentation meets internal standards and supports future servicing and maintenance.

·        Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and documentation standards.

Technical Leadership

·        Act as the lead technical authority on assigned projects.

·        Support quality assurance activities and maintain high engineering standards.

·        Work closely with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure optimum technical solutions are delivered.

·        Assist in identifying opportunities for system improvements and additional works.

Mentoring & Teamwork

·        Support and mentor junior engineers through day-to-day project activities.

·        Share technical knowledge openly and help develop the capability of the wider team.

·        Contribute positively to project reviews and lessons learned.

·        Collaborate effectively with colleagues across engineering, operations and administration functions.

Client Engagement

·        Build strong working relationships with owners' representatives, captains, management companies and shipyards.

·        Communicate professionally and confidently with clients throughout project delivery.

·        Represent Osprey's values and commitment to quality at all times.

Essential Experience & Skills

To be successful in this role, you will have:

·        Significant experience delivering marine electronics projects.

·        Strong knowledge of modern marine electrical and electronic systems.

·        Experience producing professional technical drawing packs and engineering documentation.

·        Experience integrating, commissioning and troubleshooting complex marine systems.

·        The ability to independently manage the technical delivery of projects.

·        Strong planning, organisational and communication skills.

·        Experience working directly with clients and other project stakeholders.

·        A practical, problem-solving approach with excellent attention to detail.

·        A full UK driving licence.

·        The willingness to travel when required, occasionally at short notice.

Desirable Experience

·        Experience using AutoCAD Electrical.

·        Large yacht refit or new-build project experience.

·        Network infrastructure and vessel integration systems.

·        Instrumentation, navigation, communications systems.

·        Remote diagnostics and support technologies.

The Person We're Looking For

Technical ability is essential, but cultural fit is equally important.

We are looking for someone who:

·        Takes ownership and follows through on commitments.

·        Enjoys solving complex technical challenges.

·        Maintains high standards of workmanship and documentation.

·        Communicates well with both clients and colleagues.

·        Enjoys mentoring and supporting less experienced engineers.

·        Is collaborative, approachable and team-oriented.

·        Values continuous learning and professional development.

·        Understands that exceptional project outcomes are achieved through teamwork, not individual heroics.

A Note on Culture

We are looking for a team player first and foremost.

Success at Osprey comes from collaboration, knowledge sharing and supporting one another. We are not looking for a lone-wolf engineer who prefers to work in isolation. We are looking for someone who enjoys contributing to a high-performing team, sharing knowledge freely and helping colleagues succeed. This collaborative approach is central to how we work and develop our people.

Why Join Osprey?

At Osprey, you'll have the opportunity to:

·        Work on challenging projects involving sophisticated marine technology.

·        Learn from experienced industry professionals.

·        Develop highly respected technical expertise.

·        Work with leading manufacturers and innovative technologies.

·        Take ownership of meaningful projects and make a visible impact.

·        Be part of a supportive, ambitious and collaborative team.

·        Continue developing your career without sacrificing quality of life.

This Role Is Not Suitable For

This role is unlikely to be suitable if:

·        You do not have marine electronics experience.

·        You prefer working independently with minimal collaboration.

·        You are looking primarily for a people-management role.

·        You are uncomfortable working directly with clients.

·        You are unwilling to travel as projects require.
