Our knowledge covers the footprint of the organisation, we have lots of useful sector-specific resources and guidance documents available to our members. British Marine witness and influence the development of standards, which means that we have a full understanding of how to support our members in achieving compliance.

Thanks to our relationships with an international network of marine businesses and with the UK government, we can help you understand what needs to be done when entering new international markets too, making sure it’s the right products and the right paperwork.

We work with our membership associations, industry partners and other stakeholders to create and publish supporting guidance and Codes of Industry Best Practice to help businesses meet their obligations in a clear, concise and achievable manner. From onboard electrical installation through the BMEEA Code of Practice to the Intended Pleasure Vessel (IPV) Code and the High-Speed Passenger Vessel (HSPV) Code, British Marine has worked to find the solutions UK Marine Businesses need to ensure safe business operations.

British Marine is the voice in the room that your business needs when government, regulators and other authorities meet to discuss the future of the marine industry, we ensure that your best interests and concerns are represented.

In recent times we have delivered successful campaigns across several key areas of the industry, including:

·       The implementation of the Recreational Craft Regulations (RCR) post Brexit and the alignment with EU directives for simplified certification in multiple markets.

·       The creation of the IPV code for recreational craft in temporary commercial use.

·       The grandfathering changes to Class V passenger vessels.

·       Supporting hire operators' implementation of the Hire Boat Code.

When one campaign ends, another one begins. We are continuously working alongside government bodies and other marine-focused stakeholders to work on issues that directly affect our members, current work includes:

·       The revision of the REG code for the Superyacht Sector.

·       The new Workboat Code version 3 and Commercial Pleasure Craft code.

·       Creating the foundation for the decarbonisation challenge, through the development of international standards in hydrogen fuel systems, high voltage charging and onboard lithium Ion battery installations.
