Showcase your commitment to marine safety during Maritime Safety Week
23 June 2026

Maritime Safety Week returns from 6–10 July 2026, providing British Marine members with an excellent opportunity to highlight the safety standards, expertise and best practices that help make our industry safer every day.

Led by the Department for Transport, this year's campaign is centred around the theme "Every day, everyone: making maritime safety routine." The initiative brings together organisations from across the maritime sector to promote a shared commitment to safety, whether operating at sea, in marinas and ports, on inland waterways or across other waterside environments.

For marine businesses, Maritime Safety Week is the perfect opportunity to showcase the measures you take to protect staff, customers and visitors, while helping to raise awareness of the practical steps that prevent avoidable incidents throughout both commercial and leisure marine activities.

There are many ways to get involved. Businesses could share safety tips and advice on social media, highlight staff training and qualifications, showcase safety equipment and procedures, offer behind-the-scenes insights into how risks are managed, publish case studies, or celebrate team members who champion safety within their organisation. Whether through customer communications, website content, videos, demonstrations or open days, Maritime Safety Week provides a valuable platform to demonstrate your commitment to safety and build confidence among customers, partners and stakeholders.

Supporting and promoting high safety standards is at the heart of British Marine's work. From developing industry-leading training programmes and codes of practice to contributing to national and international standards, we are committed to helping members create safer workplaces and operating environments.

As part of that commitment, British Marine offers a growing range of specialist water safety training designed for marina operators, harbour authorities, boatyards and waterside personnel.
