Apprentice of the Year 2025 – Who will take the crown?

As part of the Southampton International Boat Show 2025, British Marine is once again proud to present the Apprentice of the Year Award – recognising one exceptional apprentice who is making a real difference in their role, company, and across the sector.

Now in its second year, this prestigious award celebrates dedication, resilience, innovation and impact. Could someone in your business be the next winner?

Winning the Apprentice of the Year Award is more than just a title – it’s a celebration of potential, passion, and future leadership. The award brings industry-wide recognition and provides an unforgettable platform to showcase talent.

The winner will receive:

  • An engraved trophy recognising their achievement
  • Recognition at the UK’s largest marine showcase
  • Media coverage through British Marine and Southampton International Boat Show channels


The finalists will be revealed in August and each will receive:

  • Four complimentary tickets to the show for themselves and their guests
  • A certificate of achievement
  • Professional photos and promotion
  • An invitation to the Apprentice Recognition Ceremony


Judging Panel for 2025

A panel of industry professionals will assess each nomination and select the finalists and winner. The judges include:

  • Lesley Robinson -  CEO, British Marine
  • Manj Mahey -  Head of Training, British Marine
  • Jasmine Kundra – Former contestant on the BBC’s ‘The Apprentice’
  • Lorna Wagner - Programme Manager, Maritime UK Solent
  • Samantha Mitchell - Director, SM Employment and Skills Consultants

Meet the Finalists

We’re proud to announce the finalists for the 2025 British Marine Apprentice of the Year Award – six rising stars making waves across the marine industry:

  • Darcy Burn – Pantaenius UK
  • Charlie Cramer – Platinum Marine
  • AB Dean Dreyer – Royal Navy
  •  Thomas Fyfe – Princess Yachts
  • Jamie Masterman – Sunseeker
  • ET Michael Olin – Royal Navy


Each of these exceptional apprentices has shown outstanding dedication, impact, and promise in their roles.​​​

The winner will be announced on Tuesday 23 September 2025 during the Apprentice Recognition Ceremony Southampton International Boat Show.
 

Apprentice Recognition Ceremony – Honouring Tomorrow’s Talent

Also on Tuesday 23 September 2025, the Southampton International Boat Show will once again host the Apprentice Recognition Ceremony – a celebration of the next generation driving our industry forward.

From boatbuilders to business administrators, engineers to events assistants – apprentices across all marine pathways will be recognised for their hard work and achievements.

Around 100 apprentices from leading companies across the sector will be presented with their certificates in front of peers, industry leaders and special guests.

What to expect:

  • Hosted by former BBC The Apprentice contestant Jasmine Kundra
  • Hear from Anisha Roberts, winner of the inaugural Apprentice of the Year Award
  • Certificates presented to recognised apprentices
  • Live announcement of the Apprentice of the Year 2025
  • An inspiring celebration surrounded by industry professionals
  • Media coverage through British Marine and Southampton International Boat Show channels and commemorative photos

 

This ceremony highlights not only the progress of individuals, but the commitment of the marine sector to supporting skills, training and careers.
