Job Overview

To provide comprehensive maintenance and operational support across the marina, boatyard, buildings and pontoons, ensuring all facilities are safe, secure, well-maintained and presented to a high standard within a busy marina environment.

Working Hours

Typically 37.5 hours per week, worked on a rota basis including weekends, bank holidays, and occasional out-of-hours work as required.

Flexibility or Constraints

  • ·This is a site-based role and cannot be undertaken remotely
  • Some flexibility around start and finish times may be possible by agreement but the marina is open Monday - Sunday 9am - 5pm.
  • The role involves outdoor working in all weather conditions and physical manual activity
  • A flexible approach to duties and working hours is essential to support marina operations

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide maintenance support across the marina, boatyard, buildings and pontoons, carrying out both planned and reactive works
  • Carry out general repairs and upkeep to marina infrastructure, utilities, plant, machinery and associated equipment
  • Safely operate marina plant and lifting equipment, including Sealift, crane and forklift, for vessel movements in line with operating procedures and safety regulations
  • Move vessels within the marina and boatyard as required, taking into account weather conditions, tidal factors and berth constraints
  • Undertake regular inspections of marina assets, identifying maintenance issues proactively and carrying out repairs where competent to do so
  • Report more complex faults or safety-critical issues to the Marina Manager and liaise with contractors as required
  • Maintain high standards of security, cleanliness and presentation across the marina, including pontoons, access points, buildings and car parks
  • Support customers and berth holders with day-to-day operational needs, providing a helpful and professional service
  • Work flexibly as part of the marina team, assisting with additional duties during busy periods, emergencies or special operations as directed by the Marina Manager
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work at all times
  • Support the development of other team members by sharing practical knowledge, safe working practices and maintenance skills during day-to-day operations.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience across a wide range of maintenance or practical projects
  • Strong understanding of safe working environments and health and safety requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable manner
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient computer skills and a professional telephone manner
  • Flexible, adaptable and solution-focused “can-do” attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to swim
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working in a marina, boatyard or marine environment
  • Experience working with boats, lifting equipment or cranes
  • Certification for the use of plant and equipment (e.g. forklift, crane, Sealift)
  • Background in boatyards, boatbuilding, engineering, machinery or similar environments
  • First Aid qualification or willingness to train
