Workboat Code 3 Course for builders and engineers

Workboat Code 3 Course for builders and engineers

Workboat Code 3 came into force in December 2023, and whilst all new to code workboats must meet the requirements of the code from that date, all existing workboats must also upgrade by their next renewal or within 3 years of December 2023 whichever is the later.

This course has been created to help boatbuilders, engineers and the supply chain identify the differences between the last codes and the new, showing you what has changed and identifying what will need to be upgraded on an existing vessel in preparation for the transition.

All new boats certified to the workboat code must meet the new requirements of workboat code 3 from December 2023, but unlike past workboat code updates there is no general grandfathering of the existing fleet.

All existing workboat code vessels must also upgrade themselves to the requirements of the new code, and they have until their next renewal examination or December 2026 to do so.

This course has been developed to support boatyards, supply chain and surveyors understand the design and installation requirements of the new code, what must be modified, rechecked, or newly installed.

  • Understand the changes within the new Code.
  • Understand the new equipment and installation requirements.
  • Understand what systems will have to be upgraded on existing vessels.
  • Understand where existing standards may now be used to meet the code.
  • Understand what documentation and paperwork surveyors will be asking for.
