You will be detail‑driven, safety‑focused, confident working with multiple technical teams, and comfortable supporting our Quality functions when required.
A Day in Life
No two days are the same. As a Sunseeker Skipper you may be out on the water conducting sea trials, working closely with engineering and commissioning teams to resolve technical issues, or preparing a yacht for client handover. You could be supporting owner training, managing a delivery passage across the coast or overseas, or completing essential documentation to ensure compliance and smooth transition of the vessel. You will take full ownership of onboard safety, presentation, and performance, ensuring every yacht leaves us meeting the exceptionally high standards our clients expect.
Example responsibilities include:
· Skippering newly built yachts during sea trials, ensuring all systems are tested in line with Sunseeker and manufacturer standards.
· Ensuring the safety of all personnel on board and upholding strict safety protocols both at sea and shoreside.
· Working with engineering, design, and commissioning teams to identify and resolve technical issues.
· Producing detailed reports covering vessel performance, handling, classification requirements and system functionality.
· Delivering client demonstrations, showcasing performance, features and handling characteristics.
· Conducting technical handovers and providing onboard operational training for new owners and crew.
· Skippering yachts for delivery to dealers, owners or boat shows - locally and internationally.
· Managing routing, crew, safety and regulatory compliance for all delivery passages.
· Completing delivery documentation, inventories and checklists.
· Carrying out final checks and minor remedial work to ensure yachts meet Sunseeker quality standards.
· Maintaining exceptional onboard cleanliness and presentation.
· Supporting continuous improvement activities, reporting issues through CIP/QIP systems and assisting with cost‑down initiatives.
To be considered for this role you should:
· Hold RYA Yachtmaster Offshore (Commercially Endorsed) or MCA Master 200GT.
· Hold STCW Basic Safety Training, VHF SRC Certificate and a valid ENG1 (or equivalent).
· Have unrestricted travel ability for international deliveries.
· Demonstrate extensive experience in yacht handling, navigation and seamanship.
· Be confident troubleshooting onboard electrical, mechanical and navigation systems.
· Present yourself professionally with strong communication skills for client‑facing interactions.
· Have exceptional attention to detail and a high standard of care.
· Be flexible to work outside standard hours, including weekends and travel for vessel deliveries or boat shows.
· Desirable: Experience with premium yacht brands, additional marine qualifications and/or multilingual skills.
