Signposting Sustainability
In May 2008, the British Marine
Federation (BMF) gained certification to phase 5 of the BS8555
Environment Management System (EMS) standard for their
activities as a trade association.
The British standard provides guidance to organisations
seeking to implement a formal Environmental Management System, for
example ISO 14001. The standard is targeted at SMEs and it is
for that reason the BMF decided to lead the way, showcasing our
achievements and acting as a template for our members so they
too can deliver an EMS within their organisation, no matter
what size of business they are.
During the next year, the BMF will be
developing this site, signposting information
and encouranging our members to operate sustainably.
